B. Killeshandra, County Cavan, Ireland, 1831. D. London, Ontario, 1923. He was awarded the Victoria Cross in 1859 during the 'Indian Mutiny' at Kewanie, Trans-Gogra, for closing with and disarming a rebel Sepoy, whilst being severely wounded himself.
